Ductless systems, also referred to as mini-splits, can be shifted from air conditioning to heating mode with just the touch of a button, making this a highly effective appliance. Clear Out the Outside Units
The outdoor portion of your ductless mini-split unit can become clogged with leaves and other forms of debris over the year. Be sure to check your outdoor unit—or units—to make sure that the vents are clear and that they maintain a space of at least two feet around the unit clear of any blockages that may restrict airflow.
Change Air Filters
The air filter in your ductless system is meant to be changed on a regular basis. Air filters exist to protect the inside components of your system. Therefore if they become too clogged, damage may occur to your cooling system. Depending on the type of filter your system has, it should be changed every 1–3 months—more often if you have significant contaminants in your home such as cigarette smoke or pet dander.
